Internship Summary

I am Connors Clause, and my 2014 summer was spent working with Rhodes Risk Advisors in Atlanta. The office was located in Bucketed on Peachtree Street in a large tower complex. Rhodes is a fairly young property and casualty brokerage that was established in 2012. I worked full time with Rhodes Risk Advisors from May 19th to August 1st. The agency is a smaller company with only six people employed, which allowed me to interact with my coworkers and see the inside workings of a risk management firm.

I was able to work with the producers and account managers over he course of the summer to gain a real understanding of what this industry entails. Rhodes was also a very young firm, so this allowed me to experience the difficulties and excitements that come with gaining new insurers and trying to “feed their appetites” with new insured. Rhodes is filled with young ambitious people who are striving to make a small company grow.

I was given different tasks everyday, but my main project was working with computer software called “ACT! ” This is a contact list of potential clients that can be accessed by everyone In the office. I mainly worked on dining and expanding the contact list with contact names, information, and renewal dates. There were other small projects that were given to me, which involved working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powering developing Insurance proposals and other documents.

I was able to gain insight into the industry during my time working with the company. Because Rhodes was a smaller firm, I was able to ask questions and learn about the industry with ease. I also had the opportunity to attend many meetings with insurers and potential clients to see various Interactions between the companies. Overall, It proved to be a very rewarding experience.
