As the school year goes on, Mantilla finds out how talented she is and uses her “powers” to try and not only improve her life, but also Miss Honeys life. Miss Honey seems to be the only one who cares for Mantilla, and Mantilla really enjoys everything that Miss Honey does for her. Throughout the movie, Mantled, Lavender, Miss Honey, and the rest of her classmates try to outwit and outsmart the Truncheons. Mantilla’s brilliance has brought many to adore her besides Truncheons and her own parents.

After all the grief and chaos that happened, Mantilla scares Truncheons by paving her powers take over a picture frame of Miss Honeys father that is displayed in Truncheon’s house. The next day, the students attack Truncheons as she drives away. Miss Honey then goes back to her childhood home since Truncheons left, and she takes over her aunt’s position at the school. Meanwhile, Mantilla’s parents and brother want to avoid getting caught by the cops. And are forced to move away to Guam. Mantilla doesn’t want to leave, so after consideration, Miss Honey adopts Mantilla so she doesn’t have to leave.

Then everyone gets the happy ending they wanted. Educational psychology plays an important part In the movie Mantilla. There are examples of classical conditioning, peer Influences, and negative punishment. Classical conditioning Is a type of behaviorism. It works with physiological and emotional responses. There are 3 parts to classical conditioning. They are: unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, and neutral response. The result of these is a conditioned stimulus to a conditioned response. Peer influence is a type of social development.

With positive peer pressure, peers are role models to a child’s behavior and encouragement. However, with negative peer pressure, peers can influence anger, aggression, and behaviors that are not acceptable In the real world. Peer pressure provides reinforcement of behaviors that are present In the child’s life. Negative Punishment is a type of reinforce that takes away something that the person enjoys and doesn’t want to lose. Punishment is supposed to follow consequences that the person doesn’t want to deal with. It is supposed to help reinforce behaviors that are not sought after or are not appropriate.

Classical conditioning Is show by the reaction of the students In Miss Honeys class hen Truncheons comes to teach a lesson her niece’s class for the day. When anything that has color or artist impressions. When Truncheons comes in the classroom, all the attention in the classroom goes to her immediately. When she snaps her whip on the desk, everyone frightfully stands up to the left side of their personal desks, and doesn’t speak. She tells to the students not to breathe, and the students become statues to obey orders given to them in the fear of what she would do to the students.

She has classically trained them by using the technique of fear, which is the unconditioned response. The object to fear is the “cookie,” and the presence of Truncheons is the unconditioned stimulus. For classical conditioning, this attention given for silence and behavior is a real-life possibility. The strictness of a teacher will depend if your students will follow your directions or not. However, your students shouldn’t fear a teacher like they do in this movie. A teacher would not be able to carry a whip with her and hit in on the desks of the students for enforcing appropriate behavior.

The truth of real life is there, but it is dated. In the past, students were able to be physically “paddled” for behavior issues. Peer influences can change the way a person reacts in a tricky situation. For Bruce, he receives positive peer pressure from the entire school assembly when Truncheons claims he stole her cake. She requires him to eat an entire cake that one of the lunch ladies has made for him. At first he does well with a steady pace. He then becomes fuller and fuller. When there is Just a little bit under half left on the platter, Mantilla arises from the seated crowd and starts cheering and chanting Bruce to motivate him.

After she starts, Lavender and the rest of the school assembly Join in chanting to encourage Bruce to finish the cake. Once Bruce finishes the cake and is miserable, he stands up and licks the platter clean. Truncheons is not happy with the reaction, so she shatters the platter over his head, and then a reaction of classical conditioning happens again. The students immediately become silent and sit down. The real-life aspect of the idea that students back other students up are still true. This specific situation would not happen in an entire school. Positive peer pressure is all around a hill’s world.

In a classroom when a student tells another student they did a good job, or Just smiling when someone achieved something. The idea that someone is forced to eat a cake for punishment in front of the entire school will not happen. Rooting for a particular person to get a task done is present in the world today. Reinforces can be put in place for any reason that a person with higher power deems appropriate. Truncheons, the headmistress, does not approve of braids in her school. Amanda Trips comes to school one day with pigtail braids. She says her mom did it for her.

Truncheons reacts by doing her hammer-throw with Amanda over the fence by her hair as a negative punishment for making an excuse of not follow given directions. This negative punishment is not Just to show Amanda who is in charge, but also to the rest of the students who attend the school. This situation would not happen in today’s society. For one, the human scalp of a young kid is not capable of staying in tact with a strain of approximately 70 pounds in rotating momentum on the end. It is also not realistic of the distance or height the student as thrown in the real world.

If a teacher did an action like that, there would be a lawsuit against the teacher, her license would be suspended, and she would be put on trial for child abuse. Many events in which educational psychology can be observed. Also, the events have many possible ways of being analyzed and can be listed under many different psychology principles and theories. The way you look at an event is not always a concrete theory in all circumstances. It Just depends on the way you think and look about it all individually or as a whole.
