The term “ghetto” originated as a reference to secluded Jewish quarters in Italy. These quarters weren’t always unkempt either; some of them were well kept. Over the years ghetto has morphed into a word to describe minorities and their communities. Rampant poverty, drugs and single mothers or fathers with no examples of scholarly or financial excellence. The misuse of ghetto obstructs the futures of all minorities who have to live under this notion while they already live tough lives.

Ghetto” is often overused and stereotypical and is used to describe urban culture an d poor communities. Everyday typical people misuse the term ghetto because the midi a has influenced them to do so. The general public mainly uses the word to describe areas characterized with poverty, crime, and molesters. If something is done that people aren’t used to s engine they will call it ghetto and assume that you are poor and can’t fulfill the task normally . The term Is mostly associated with molesters such as African Americans and Hispanics.

Ghetto used to be associated with Jews, but now it’s just misused. I once saw an African American mom purchase some food at a store with food stamps; immediately the people around her started w whispering and I heard some words being used to describe her, but mainly ghetto. People get Judged too quickly and the term ghetto is overly exclaimed to represent others even if it’s false. The term ghetto should be abandoned. Ghetto is very stereotypical in a whole. Urban communities that are considered ghetto are influenced by national and local policies.
