Happiness

We hanker after success, money, social position, big bungalows, luxury cars, and expensive gadgets . We feel we have arrived with these paraphernalia that surrounds us. But do they actually give us happiness and satisfaction? No, they are only appetizer. The more you have the more you yearn for. They are only material things, In which you can only find temporary happiness. Small things we have are equally welcome; In fact more welcome as they spell out emotional anchorage; a sense of belonging.

Some are tote able to own any of these things that spell success strictly In the sense of standards set up by society. There Is no need to feel upset about It. You may achieve them In due course of time or you may not ever achieve them. But why should you care? They are not as Important as the small things that you own . Take example of your wrist watch given by your father when you were a child, a camera presented to your by your uncle, a dress stitched by your mother, a painting gifted by your sisters Aren’t they more valuable and source of true happiness than all these electronics which provides a mere source of satisfaction?

Mobiles get outdated in a jiffy and you throw them in a jiffy! Do we do that to lovely possessions cherished from childhood? Not at all because they are a part of our child hood memories of unconditional love of trust that we grew up with. Are not those a part of us? What about the certificates of merits we have accumulated from nursery classes? We cannot easily throw them away because they are a part of our growing up. They are the bricks of our character formation. They give us courage, power, confidence and a sense of worth!

Obviously they small things which are precious to us than any of the things money can buy! And what about that album where snap shots taken with simple cameras takes us on a nostalgic trip down memory lane? The wedding photos of your parents, the image of grandparents, your first birthday, thousands of images flash across! Can a giant of a car, a palatial house can bring so much of pleasure? One may relish a Five Star lunch once in awhile but ultimately you earn for simple homemade food made by the hands of your mother!

Small things we own like our books, letters of near and dear ones, our simple comfortable dresses, soulful songs, our brushes and paints ultimately prove more valuable to us than any other ostentatious object. Who can defy the fact that we enjoy the most while reading a book or give expression to our creativity through pen or paints? You escape escape Into a new world where you Indulge In your fantasies ,where you can get acquainted with yourself, where you Indulge In your fantasies, where you get acquainted tithe yourself, where you achieve your full potential.

A walk In the lap of nature gives you more pleasure than the neon sights and blaring noise off disco party. The fish In the pond , the flower In the garden, the love of your family, the easy camaraderie with your friends, your character, your learning, you’re upbringings, your values these are your real possessions and these are most precious -Other things are transitory and deserve only that much attention that they deserve.
