Effects of Communicating with Electronic Devices

Testing: Why All the Fuss? ” and Alison Stein Weller in her article, “Lost in Translation. With some research, one can agree with both of Crystal’s and Wellness’s thoughts that communicating using an electronic device (phone testing, emailing) will/can have a(n) negative effect on people. Even though communicating with others using electronic devices will/can have a(n) negative effect on people, It can also have Its advantages. Long distance communication has been a problem for a long time. This is where phones are beneficial. People would be able to text message or email one another even though hey are far from each other. In addition, with text messaging, people can communicate with multiple people at one time.

Furthermore, they can be on a group message which allows them to send a text message and multiple people would be able to see it. Another example is that people can message someone anywhere. Text messaging also records all the conversations with important information such as directions or important dates. Clearly, Even though communicating with others using electronic devices avail/can have a(n) negative effect on people, It can also have Its advantages. Even though communicating using electronic devices can have its advantages, the disadvantages outweighs it.

Using mobile phones as a form of communication have had negative effects on people. For example, text messaging formed Its own type of language, not a complete different language, but shortcuts taken from English words. Examples of these shortcuts Includes “y” from the word “why,” “u” from “you,” and “101” from ” laugh out loud,” but there are plenty more. Studies have shown that these acronyms are accidentally used in student’s papers. Although It Is uncommon o see, It Is affecting people negatively as David crystal stated, “… Few abbreviations appear.

But the instances were few.. “… Erode children’s ability to spell… Capitalize correctly” (359-360). In addition, Crystal stated that “A new generation of adults will Inevitably grow up unable to write proper English” (359). He Is basically stating that as testing becomes more popular and as new generations come, It will corrupt their minds resulting in hindering their ability to write proper English. 1 OFF emailing can be seen in Wellness’s essay “Lost in Translation. ” Sometimes, people accidentally send emails to the wrong person and the result is a conflict between them.

This can be seen in Wellness’s essay when she stated “Robert witnessed an explosive turf battle sparked when one employee left another Off ‘reply all’ email” (374). Furthermore, people are socializing infrequently nowadays because of the electronic devices, “‘… Just one day a week… Talk to someone face-to-face. ‘” In this statement, Weller is stating that instead of communicating with someone through an electronic device all the time, take a day off of using a device as a form of immunization and talk to someone in person.

In conclusion, disadvantages outweighs the advantages of using electronic devices as a form of communication. One can agree with both of Crystal and Wellness’s thoughts that communicating using an electronic devices (phone testing, emailing) will/can have a(n) negative effects on people. Although it is beneficial to use such devices as a form of communication, they always have their flaws. All in all, testing, mailing, or whatever electronic devices out there that’s used as a form of communication can and will have negative effects on people.
