Career Path

When I was a young girl instead of playing with baby dolls I loved dressing up in my fathers suits while using hairbrushes as my microphone pretending to be announcing sports games on TV. That was when I realized that I wanted to be a sports broadcaster or announcer. I practiced everyday all day throughout my entire childhood. This past summer I wanted to do something other than train for soccer. I did an Internship with the Texas Rangers. I worked with FOX SPORTS for a couple of days

Interviewing players on both teams. Followed a lady around so I could experience what it would be like to be a FOX interviewer. We interviewed the players and coaches before and after the game. It was extremely fun to meet all of the famous athletes while “working. ” After interning with the interviewers I realized that their lobs are a lot harder than it looks. They are constantly on there feet running from place to place and are expected to look composed and relaxed on TV. The FOX workers were constantly rushed and expected to never make mistakes.

This Job is clearly an extremely tough one that takes a long time to be successful and used to however, I willing to do whatever It takes. I also worked with Tom Grieve the announcer of the Rangers and that was when I knew I had found my dream Job. Everything I loved to do was combined it to one job. Before the game Tom Grieve would study the statistics of both baseball teams so he would sound educated when speaking on the pre-game show. He would then shoot the pre-game show and then announce the game. Mr.. Grieve would then do the post game show and start repairing for the next game which was usually the next day.

Communication studies are an academic field that has to do with communicating in different ways; speeches, face-to-face conversation, and television broadcasting. As a result, I think I would fit in this study due to my interests and strengths. I am in this major because being successful in the communications world is important to me. My goal is to become a sports broadcaster or announcer. One fulfilling this job successfully has to be able to do many things. They need to be able to speak In front f any crowd, be able to say the right thing under pressure, know their facts or sport like the back of their hand, and many more attributes.

Even though is will be very hard to achieve this goal I know I will do it. I have been playing sports since I was able to walk and now I play Women’s Varsity Soccer for Clemson university. I know almost everything about sports and I am a very competitive young women. I hate losing games and do whatever I can to help my team. I know this will transfer over to my 1 OFF amount about time management and several other useful skills that are needed in many fields of study and work.
